Welcome to Davis Drive MS PTA Website

July 16, 2010By Melissa Vestal, PTA President

My name is Melissa Vestal and I will be representing DDMS as the PTA President this year. We welcome back our students and faculty for another great year. I hope you had a wonderful and restful summer and are ready now to begin fulfilling a new chapter with your child during their next middle school year. What is the PTA? What are our goals for the new school year? The PTA is a team of parents and teachers who work together to meet the needs and speak on behalf of every child by offering them the best tools to help them become successful during the school year. The PTA is the number one powerful voice and vehicle for parental involvement. Our children succeed when we work together as a community and advocate for relationships that assist to develop their goals. PTA makes a huge impact by influencing the decisions of legislators and work together with parents to ensure proper funding, leadership, and instructions for all schools.

The Mission of the PTA is to support and speak on behalf of children in schools, in the community, and before government officials to help make decisions that affect our children. By assisting parents in developing skills they need to raise and protect their children, the PTA encourages parental and public involvement in the school. I would like to highlight a few of our major accomplishments last year. The PTA purchased computers, printers, cameras, USB drives, a new podium, and our first school mascot costume for DDMS. I look forward to meeting all of you and challenge you to join the PTA to assist DDMS to have the best year ever.

The PTA also offers programs and resources to support the school’s mission. We welcome your suggestions and participation!
